Manage Linear Inbox Notifications
Use notification settings for delivery channels and Inbox controls for processing updates. Turning off email does not remove the underlying in-app notifications.
Step-by-step guide
Check access and scope
Use your own account settings. Device-level notification permissions can also affect desktop or mobile delivery.
Separate urgent updates
Identify which events require immediate action versus a later review.
Review delivery channels
Open Account notification settings and review each delivery channel. Account > Notifications separates Desktop, Mobile, Email and Slack delivery settings; Inbox remains the in-app update center.
- Worked example: An on-call engineer may want immediate assignment alerts on mobile and routine project updates in a scheduled Inbox review. A snoozed notification should have a clear follow-up time.
Configure useful alerts
Keep urgent work visible without sending every update to every device.
Process Inbox updates
Use Inbox priority filters, snooze and read controls during review.
Review subscriptions
Unsubscribe from issues you no longer need to follow.
Verify the result
A harmless assignment reaches the intended channel and remains discoverable in Inbox.
Common mistakes
Avoid the main failure mode
Deleting a notification is not closing its issue. Likewise snoozing an alert does not defer the underlying work for everyone.
Check the handoff edge case
Disabling every immediate alert can hide assignments that require action. Test a real routing scenario before settling on channel preferences.
