Create a Plane Module for Feature-Level Scope
Create a Plane module to group related work within a project, independently of the cycle in which each item is delivered. Modules can have their own dates, lead and progress.
A Project Admin enables Modules in project settings. Contributors can create modules, while guests cannot access them. Installed self-hosted versions should expose the current module controls before using this workflow.
Example: a Tablet layouts module can hold design and implementation work delivered across several cycles without changing its feature-level scope.
Step-by-step guide
Enable the project feature
Open project menu > Settings > Modules under Features and enable Modules if necessary. Return to the Modules page in that project’s sidebar.
Create the module record
Click Add Module, enter a unique title and describe the intended result. Choose a state and both dates when a schedule is known, then create the module.
Set accountable participants
Select the module lead and members from the project. These fields describe responsibility and participation; they do not assign every work item or grant additional permissions.
Add the first scoped items
Open the module and create work or choose + > Add an existing work item. Inspect its progress panel and make sure the selected work actually belongs to the module’s goal.
Common mistakes
Expecting automatic module completion
Finishing all work items does not automatically change the module state. Review scope and set Completed intentionally.
