Create a Shortcut Story Template from an Existing Story
Save a Shortcut Story Template by duplicating a representative Story, removing incident-specific details, and choosing Save as New Template beside Create Story.
Before starting, enable Story Templates in Settings. Use an account that can create Stories; Observers cannot create or edit them.
Example: a checkout bug template should ask for reproduction steps, expected behavior, actual behavior and environment, while leaving the affected customer and due date blank.
Step-by-step guide
Duplicate the reference Story
Open a well-written bug Story. In its upper-right Story Actions menu, choose Duplicate Story. Work in the new draft so the original report remains intact.
Replace specifics with prompts
Change the title to a reusable pattern and rewrite the description as questions. Review owners, Epic, labels, dates and attachments so the next report does not inherit stale assignments.
Save the reusable version
Open the arrow beside Create Story and choose Save as New Template. Give it a purpose-based name such as Checkout bug report, then confirm Save as New Template.
Create a Story from it
Open Create Story > Create from Template and find the template under its Team. Fill in a fresh example and verify that useful fields remain and case-specific details are absent.
Common mistakes
Reusing a live deadline
A saved due date can become stale on the next report. Keep only defaults that remain valid for every use.
