Create Related Databases in Fibery
Add a Relation field between existing databases and choose how many records may connect on each side. The connection is visible from both databases.
Before you start: Have configuration access to the Space and two databases. Decide the relationship before creating it; changing structure later affects dependent work.
Worked example: One Product has several Components, while each Component belongs to one Product. Two components under Atlas should appear together when Atlas is opened.
Step-by-step guide
Choose the two record types
Create Product and Component with the Space + → Database action if they do not already exist. Reuse existing databases instead of duplicating them.
Create the native connection
Open a Component, select + New field, choose Relation to…, and select Product as the target database.
Set the cardinality
Choose one-to-many so one Product can have many Components. Check the direction shown before clicking Add Field.
Name each side clearly
Use Product for the single parent and Components for the collection. Populate Atlas on two Component records.
Verify the reverse collection
Open Atlas and confirm both Components appear. Test a second Product to ensure records are not being attached to every product.
Common mistakes
Choosing many-to-many by habit
Allow multiple parents only if that represents the real process. A loose relation complicates reporting and downstream lookups.
