How to display Jira work items in Confluence
Display Jira work items in Confluence with /jira → Jira work items, a basic search or JQL, then Insert work items.
Use a live query for a changing review queue and a single Smart Link for one ticket. The Confluence site must be connected to Jira; showing a list does not grant readers Jira access.
Step-by-step guide
Define the question the list should answer
For a launch-readiness page, decide whether the reader needs outstanding work, all scoped work or one blocking item. Confirm that the relevant Jira instance is connected and that the intended reviewer can access its work items.
Insert Jira work items
Edit the page and type /jira, then select Jira work items. Use the basic search for a simple scope or switch to JQL. For a named Jira space, the documentation gives the pattern space = "TEST"; use your actual space value.
Choose a readable result display
Search and select Insert work items. Configure the displayed field columns and drag them into a useful order, such as key, summary, status and assignee. Select Count view when a linked count answers the question better than a large table.
Check the query and reader permissions
Publish and compare the list with the same Jira search. Open an item as a representative reviewer. If results are missing, distinguish an incorrect filter from Jira access or authentication before broadening the query. Use the pencil control to edit the saved search.
Common mistakes
Using a screenshot for a changing queue
A screenshot cannot show later status changes. Use the live query when the page is supposed to represent current work.
