Jira Product Discovery: Export ideas to CSV
Export Jira Product Discovery ideas as CSV from a view’s menu using Download CSV, with Export a view permission enabled for your role.
The export contains idea field information, not the complete text of attached insights. Use it for a defined analysis snapshot rather than treating it as a full fidelity backup of discovery research.
Step-by-step guide
Prepare the view to match the analysis
Choose the relevant idea set and inspect filters before downloading. For example, create a review view for the Payments ideas being evaluated this quarter. Note the date and scope so a later spreadsheet comparison uses a comparable population.
Confirm export permission
Ask the space admin to check Export a view for your role if Download CSV is unavailable. Access to read a view does not establish that its export permission is enabled. Avoid changing the whole space’s visibility to work around this control.
Download and inspect the CSV
Open the view’s menu and choose Download CSV. Open the file in a spreadsheet and inspect headers, a known idea and its values. Reactions and Atlas fields are not supported in this export; a displayed Insights field contains the count, not its underlying evidence text.
Preserve context with the snapshot
Record the source view and extraction date alongside the file. If presenting an insight-backed ranking, keep links to the original ideas so reviewers can read the evidence. Use a supported portability request if you need an export of the insights themselves.
Common mistakes
Calling insight counts the research export
A number of insights cannot substitute for the source observations, context and URLs. Keep the evidence accessible in its original location.
