Export Notion Product Documentation
Export the relevant pages in a format suited to the handoff and inspect the resulting files. Exported content is a snapshot rather than a fully restorable copy of workspace behavior.
Step-by-step guide
Check access and scope
You need access to the pages and exporting must be allowed. Check subpage scope and external resource permissions before downloading.
Choose export scope
Select the documentation scope and choose HTML or Markdown and CSV as appropriate.
Include needed subpages
Export with the required subpages and attachments.
- Worked example: For a PRD handoff, inspect the specification text, requirement table and design references. A working web link in Notion may still point to a private resource outside the exported folder.
Unpack the files
Unpack the download into a review folder.
Open representative content
Open a representative page, database file and attachment.
Document live dependencies
Create an index describing missing live features or external dependencies.
Verify the result
A recipient can read the essential specification offline and understands which resources still require online access.
Common mistakes
Avoid the main failure mode
An export does not reproduce database relations, permissions and live integrations exactly. Do not advertise it as a one-click backup restore.
Check the handoff edge case
A downloaded database CSV does not explain the meaning of every property. Include a short field index with the handoff.
