Manage Productboard Member Roles
Use an Admin account on Settings → Members to manage workspace membership and roles. Assign the role needed for a specific job, not merely the highest available role.
Before you start: Have Admin access and a list of each person’s intended work. A paid editor-role change may affect billing; inspect Productboard’s confirmation.
Worked example: A support teammate needs to submit feedback, a PM needs to edit Features, and an executive needs a shared roadmap. These are different permission needs.
Step-by-step guide
Map the jobs
Choose Contributor for feedback contribution, Maker for product editing, and Viewer for the relevant shared roadmap access. Reserve Admin for workspace management.
Invite the member
Open Settings → Members → Invite members, enter the email and select the role. Add an appropriate team if needed.
Review before confirming
Check the address, role and any billing notice, then click Invite. An invitation is a concrete access change.
Check the existing roster
Admins can update member roles from Members. Audit people whose responsibilities changed instead of assuming an old maker seat remains necessary.
Validate the actual task
Have the teammate attempt the expected workflow and check their role under Settings → My account. Role and content-sharing configuration both matter.
Common mistakes
Assuming deactivation reduces purchased seats
Deactivation prevents login but does not automatically change a paid maker seat count. Review billing separately.
