How to move content between spaces in Confluence
Move Confluence content between spaces through More actions → Move, selecting the destination space and parent.
The page’s attachments, comments and children move with it, and incoming links redirect. Check source and destination permissions before moving a release branch into a shared product space.
Step-by-step guide
Confirm source-side authority
For cross-space moves, the current documentation requires Space admin permission where Confluence roles are not enabled, or Manage all content in space where roles are enabled. Ask the source space admin to perform the move if you lack that authority.
Check the destination and descendants
You need View access to the destination, access to the items being moved, and Add permission there. Review the branch for content that should not reach the destination audience. Moving a parent also moves its child hierarchy.
Select the new space and parent
Open the parent item, choose More actions → Move, then use Browse or Search to select the destination space and parent. For example, put “Release 3 review” under the Product space’s “Release reviews” page, then select Move.
Inspect the branch after moving
Open the parent and a child from the new tree. Check attachments, comments and effective access, then follow an old incoming link to confirm its redirect. Tell collaborators where new work belongs so they do not recreate a competing branch.
Common mistakes
Checking only destination permissions
Cross-space moves also require elevated authority in the current space; Add access in the destination alone is insufficient.
