Use Asana Approvals for Launch Signoff
Convert a task to an approval when a named reviewer must approve, request changes or reject a deliverable. An approval result needs its evidence and scope preserved.
Step-by-step guide
Check access and scope
Approval tasks require an eligible plan. Project permissions determine who can complete work, so assignee selection alone may not restrict approval authority.
Define one approval decision
Create a task for one explicit release decision.
Attach the exact artifact
Attach the reviewed artifact and acceptance conditions.
- Worked example: Create Approve invite-flow recovery instructions with the exact document version and reviewer. Keep security approval separate if a different person owns that decision.
Mark the task as approval
Use the task menu to mark it as an approval. In the task details menu, choose Mark as approval; identify the exact artifact before asking for a decision.
Assign the approver
Assign the decision owner and an agreed due date.
Record decision follow-up
Record the decision and route requested changes into owned follow-up work.
Verify the result
The approval outcome, reviewer, artifact version and unresolved conditions are visible to the release owner.
Common mistakes
Check the handoff edge case
Completing an approval without naming the artifact version makes the signoff ambiguous after later edits. Preserve the reviewed version.
