How to use content by label macro in Confluence
List related Confluence pages with the Filter by label macro, the current Cloud name for the content-by-label workflow.
Choose labels, refine the scope and preview the list before insertion. For a support hub, this can collect troubleshooting pages across several branches without moving them into one folder.
Step-by-step guide
Prepare a meaningful source set
Add a common label such as troubleshooting to two or three relevant pages. Confirm that the label is not also used for unrelated team notes. This list is driven by labels rather than the pages’ physical positions in the content tree.
Insert Filter by label
Edit the hub page, type /filterbylabel and select the macro. In Add label(s), choose troubleshooting. The configuration modal lets you inspect the label selection before committing the list to the page.
Narrow the list deliberately
Use Add filter(s) to choose the support space and, if needed, a content type or ancestor. For label logic, multiple values in one filter mean OR, while separate label filters mean AND. Use the latter when requiring both troubleshooting and product-payments.
Preview, publish and inspect
Select Preview, check the resulting titles and then Insert. Publish the page and open a listed item. Add a correctly labeled source later to confirm the dynamic collection remains useful without manually adding another navigation link.
Common mistakes
Treating OR as AND
Selecting two labels within the same filter can broaden the list. Separate label filters when every result must carry both labels.
