How to Connect Amplitude to Vantage: Step-by-Step Guide

Connecting Amplitude to Vantage takes under two minutes and brings your product analytics directly into your decision-making workflow. Once linked, Vantage pulls event data, funnel performance, and cohort definitions from your Amplitude projects so you can ground every product decision in real user behavior. The integration supports both API key authentication and OAuth, so you pick the method that fits your team. You control which projects sync, which data types flow into Vantage, and how far back the historical import reaches.

This guide walks you through the full setup: prerequisites, the six-step connection flow, configuration options, and troubleshooting. Whether you are connecting a single project or importing data across your entire Amplitude organization, the process is the same.

Prerequisites

Before you start, make sure you have the following:

  • A Vantage account on any plan (Free, Pro at $19/seat/mo, or Business at $59/seat/mo). The Amplitude integration is available on all plans.
  • An Amplitude account with access to at least one project. You will need your API key and Secret Key, which are available in Amplitude under Settings > Projects > General. Alternatively, if your organization uses OAuth, you can authorize through the browser.
  • A modern browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge). If using OAuth, make sure popups are not blocked for app.vantageos.tech.

Connect Amplitude in 6 steps

1

Open the Integrations page in Vantage

Log in to your Vantage workspace at app.vantageos.tech. In the left sidebar, click Settings, then select Integrations from the settings menu. This opens the integrations catalog where every available connector is listed, including Amplitude, Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Jira, Linear, and dozens more.

2

Find and select Amplitude

In the integrations catalog, locate the Amplitude card. You can use the search bar at the top to filter by name. Click the Connect button on the card. Vantage displays a summary of the data it will access from Amplitude, including events, user properties, funnels, and cohort definitions. Review the summary before proceeding.

3

Authorize via API key or OAuth

Vantage gives you two authentication options. API key: paste your Amplitude API key and Secret Key. You can find these in your Amplitude dashboard under Settings > Projects > General. OAuth: click Authorize to open Amplitude's consent screen in a new window. Review the requested permissions and click Allow. You are redirected back to Vantage automatically. Whichever method you choose, your Amplitude password is never shared with Vantage.

4

Select projects and properties

After authentication, Vantage lists every project in your Amplitude organization. Check the projects whose data you want to bring into Vantage. For each selected project, you can also choose specific event properties to include. You can use the Select All toggle to import everything at once. This selection is not permanent. You can add or remove projects later from the integration settings without disconnecting or re-authorizing.

5

Configure which data to pull

Vantage shows a configuration panel with data type toggles. Events pulls raw event counts and trends so you can reference user actions in your decisions. Funnels imports your saved funnel analyses so conversion rates are always at hand. Cohorts brings in behavioral cohort definitions and membership counts. You can enable all three or pick only the data types relevant to your workflow. You also set a lookback window (30, 60, 90, or 180 days) to control how much historical data Vantage imports on the first sync.

6

Verify the connection

Vantage runs a test query against your Amplitude project and displays a sample of your event data on screen. You should see recent events with their names, counts, and timestamps. If the test passes, click Done to finish setup. Your Amplitude data begins importing in the background. Most projects finish initial import within a few minutes, though organizations with very high event volumes may take longer. You will see a notification in Vantage when the import is complete and your analytics data is ready to use in decisions and PRDs.

Configuration options

After the initial setup, you can fine-tune how Amplitude and Vantage work together. All of these settings are accessible from Settings > Integrations > Amplitude in your Vantage workspace.

Data types

Toggle events, funnels, and cohorts on or off independently. Disabling a data type stops future imports but does not remove previously imported data from Vantage.

Lookback window

Set how far back Vantage goes when importing historical data. Options are 30, 60, 90, or 180 days. A longer window gives more context but takes longer to import and uses more storage.

Sync frequency

Choose how often Vantage pulls fresh data from Amplitude. Options are every 15 minutes, hourly (default), or daily. More frequent syncs consume more of your Amplitude API quota.

Project selection

Add or remove Amplitude projects from the sync at any time. Newly added projects import automatically. Removing a project stops syncing but does not delete previously imported data.

Event filtering

Filter which events Vantage imports by event name or property. This is useful when your Amplitude project tracks thousands of events but you only need a subset for product decisions.

Notification preferences

Configure whether Vantage sends notifications when a sync completes, when import errors occur, or when new funnel or cohort data becomes available in your workspace.

Troubleshooting

Most connections complete without issues. If you run into a problem, check these common scenarios before reaching out to support.

API key permissions error

Vantage requires both the API Key and the Secret Key from your Amplitude project. If you only paste the API Key, the connection will fail with a permissions error. Double-check that you copied both values from Amplitude under Settings > Projects > General. Also confirm that your Amplitude role has read access to the project. If you are using a restricted API key, make sure it has the "Read" scope enabled.

Project not appearing in the selector

Vantage can only see projects that your Amplitude credentials have access to. If you are part of an Amplitude organization with multiple projects, you may only see the ones assigned to your account. Ask your Amplitude admin to grant you access to additional projects, or have the admin connect the integration using organization-level credentials so all projects appear.

Data sync delay

Amplitude data in Vantage is not real-time. Amplitude itself processes events with a delay (typically a few hours for free plans, shorter for paid plans). On top of that, Vantage syncs on the schedule you configured (default: hourly). If you just sent events to Amplitude, allow time for Amplitude to process them and for the next Vantage sync cycle to pick them up. Check the last sync timestamp on the Amplitude integration card in Vantage to see when data was last pulled.

Event volume warning

If your Amplitude project tracks a very high volume of events (millions per day), the initial import may take longer than usual. Vantage displays a progress indicator on the integration card. If the import seems stalled, try reducing the lookback window to 30 days for the initial import. You can extend it later once the first batch is complete. For extremely high-volume projects, consider using event filtering to import only the events relevant to your product decisions.
