Google Sheets is ideal for competitive analysis when multiple team members need to contribute data and leadership wants a single, shareable document. The spreadsheet format makes feature comparison matrices easy to scan and filter.
This template uses multiple tabs for different analysis dimensions, with a dashboard tab that summarizes competitive positioning at a glance.

Dashboard Tab
Create a summary tab with key competitive insights: your market position relative to top 3 competitors, feature coverage percentage, pricing comparison chart, and win rate by competitor. Use conditional formatting and sparkline charts for visual impact.
Competitor Profiles Tab
One row per competitor with columns: Name, Founded, Funding, Revenue Estimate, Employee Count, Target Market, Pricing, Key Differentiator, Recent Major Release, and Threat Level (High/Medium/Low). Sort by Threat Level for quick prioritization.
Feature Matrix Tab
Rows are features, columns are competitors. Use a legend: Y (has it), P (partial), N (does not have it), PL (planned). Color-code cells with conditional formatting. Add a summary row showing feature coverage percentage per competitor.
Pricing Comparison Tab
Compare pricing across plans: Free, Starter, Pro, Enterprise. Include per-seat pricing, feature gates, overage charges, and contract terms. Update quarterly as competitors adjust pricing. Calculate the total cost for a hypothetical team of 10, 25, and 100 users.
