Healthcare PRDs in Notion must never contain PHI and should include HIPAA compliance tracking, patient safety assessments, and clinical validation plans. This template adds healthcare-specific structure.
Use Notion databases to track HIPAA requirements alongside functional requirements so compliance is visible throughout the spec process.

PHI Warning Banner
Add a red callout block at the top of every healthcare PRD: "DO NOT include Protected Health Information (PHI) in this document. No patient names, medical record numbers, or clinical data. Use de-identified examples only." This prevents accidental HIPAA violations in Notion.
HIPAA Requirements Database
Create a linked Notion database with columns: HIPAA Rule (Privacy/Security/Breach Notification), Requirement (text), Implementation (text), Status (Not Started/In Progress/Complete), and Reviewer (person). Map each feature requirement to applicable HIPAA rules.
Patient Safety Assessment
Include a patient safety section rating the feature impact: None (administrative), Low (convenience), Medium (could delay care if buggy), High (informs clinical decisions), Critical (directly affects treatment). Features rated High or Critical require clinical advisory board review.
Clinical Validation Plan
Document how clinical correctness will be validated: which clinical staff will review, what test scenarios represent real clinical workflows, and what acceptance criteria ensure the feature supports safe patient care.
