PRD Template for Notion (Free)
Writing a PRD in Notion gives you the flexibility of block-based editing with database-powered requirement tracking. This template provides a complete structure so you can focus on the content, not the formatting.
Copy this template into your Notion workspace and customize it for your team.
Template sections
7 sections covering the complete prd workflow.
Problem Statement
Describe the user problem in 2-3 paragraphs. Include data points from analytics, support tickets, or user research. Explain why this problem matters now and what happens if you do not solve it.
Goals and Non-Goals
List 3-5 specific, measurable goals. Then list explicit non-goals. Non-goals prevent scope creep and align the team on boundaries.
User Stories
Write user stories in the format: "As a [user type], I want to [action], so that [benefit]." Include 5-10 stories that cover the core use cases.
Requirements
Create a linked Notion database with columns: ID, Description, Priority (P0-P3), Effort (S/M/L), Status (Draft/Approved/Built), Acceptance Criteria. Each requirement should be testable.
Technical Considerations
Note any technical constraints, dependencies, or architecture decisions. This section is for the engineering lead to review and annotate.
Success Metrics
Define how you will measure success. Include baseline values and target values. Example: "Search latency p95 drops from 3.2s to under 2s within 2 weeks of launch."
Open Questions
List unresolved questions with owners and due dates. Do not let open questions block the PRD from progressing. Mark them as resolved when answered.
