Page Template
Create a Confluence page template for release notes. Include sections for New Features, Improvements, Bug Fixes, and Known Issues. Add placeholder Jira Issue macros that the author fills in with the relevant Fix Version JQL query.
Jira Integration
Use the Jira Issues macro with JQL: "fixVersion = [version] AND type = Story ORDER BY priority." This embeds live links to the Jira issues that shipped in this release. The table updates automatically as tickets are edited in Jira.
Space Organization
Create a Release Notes space or parent page. Each release is a child page with a consistent title format: "Release Notes — vX.Y.Z — YYYY-MM-DD." Use Confluence labels for filtering by quarter, major/minor release, and product area.
Distribution
Use Confluence page notifications to alert watchers when a new release note is published. Share the space URL with stakeholders. Export to PDF for email distribution to customers who do not have Confluence access.
