Use Jira sprint reports to ground your retrospective in facts rather than feelings.

Template sections

4 sections covering the complete retrospective workflow.

01

Sprint Metrics from Jira

Pull data from Jira Sprint Report: committed vs. completed story points, scope change during sprint, velocity trend from the Velocity Chart, and burndown pattern from the Burndown Chart. Present these numbers at the start of the retro for context.

02

Start-Stop-Continue

Start: practices the team should adopt. Stop: practices that are hurting the team. Continue: practices that are working well. Limit to 2-3 items per category. This is a simpler alternative to "What Went Well / What to Improve."

03

Action Item Tracking

Create Jira issues of type "Improvement" for each retro action item. Link them to the sprint using Fix Version. Add them to the next sprint so they are visible during planning. Track completion rate of retro action items across sprints.

04

Retro Confluence Page

Document each retrospective in a Confluence page linked to the sprint. Use the Jira Issues macro to embed the sprint report data. Create a Confluence template for consistency. Build a retro history over time for long-term trend analysis.
