Theme-Based Tab Structure
Create tabs for each theme: Growth (acquisition, activation), Retention (engagement, anti-churn), Platform (infrastructure, performance), and Compliance (security, regulatory). Each tab has columns: Initiative, Quarter, Impact Metric, Expected Lift, Effort, Status, and Owner.
SaaS Metrics Alignment
Add a Metrics Alignment column that links each initiative to a SaaS metric: activation rate, D30 retention, MRR expansion, support ticket volume, or NPS. Use data validation dropdowns for consistency. Create a summary view showing how many initiatives target each metric.
Investment Balance Dashboard
Use a summary tab with COUNTIF formulas to calculate the percentage of initiatives per theme. Add a chart showing actual vs target investment balance. Most SaaS roadmaps should target: Growth 40%, Retention 30%, Platform 20%, Compliance 10%.
Stakeholder Views
Create filtered views for different stakeholders: Engineering (all details), Leadership (summary with metrics), Sales (customer-impacting items only), and Customer Success (items that affect existing customers). Use Google Sheets filter views so each stakeholder sees relevant items.
