Clinical User Personas
Healthcare stories use clinical personas instead of generic user types: Physician (limited time, high consequence), Nurse (workflow-intensive, real-time), Pharmacist (accuracy-critical, regulatory), Patient (varying technical literacy, anxious context), and Administrator (compliance-focused, reporting). The persona affects UI design, error handling, and clinical workflow integration.
Patient Safety Acceptance Criteria
Stories rated Medium or higher for patient safety impact include: Clinical decision outputs are clearly labeled as advisory (not diagnostic), Critical values trigger alerts that cannot be dismissed without acknowledgment, Incorrect data entry is caught by validation before affecting patient records, and Fallback behavior is defined for system failures.
HIPAA Compliance Criteria
Stories touching PHI include: Minimum necessary PHI is accessed, Access is logged with user identity and timestamp, PHI is encrypted in transit and at rest, and Role-based access controls are enforced. Add these as checkbox acceptance criteria in the Jira story.
Clinical Workflow Testing
Add a subtask for clinical workflow validation: a clinical stakeholder tests the story in a realistic clinical scenario and confirms it integrates correctly with the existing clinical workflow. This is separate from QA testing.
