Build a Decision Review Calendar in Notion
Create a database calendar using a Review date property. The calendar organizes review work; it does not make the product decisions or schedule meetings automatically.
Step-by-step guide
Check access and scope
You need permission to create the database structure and named decision owners who will keep dates current.
Create decision properties
Create records for decisions with Owner, Status and Review date.
Add Calendar layout
Add a Calendar view to the decision database.
- Worked example: Review the invitation expiry decision after the first rollout results. Keep the rollout date separate from the decision review date so moving one does not silently change the other.
Choose the review date
Choose Review date as the calendar date property. In the calendar view Layout settings, Show calendar by selects the date property; do not accidentally use release date instead of Review date.
Show owners and status
Display the owner and decision status on each card.
Review overdue decisions
Review overdue decisions and record outcomes in the underlying pages.
Verify the result
A dated decision appears on the expected day and an undated-record view exposes scheduling gaps.
Common mistakes
Avoid the main failure mode
Undated decisions disappear from the calendar layout. Maintain a separate list of records missing a review date.
Check the handoff edge case
Dragging a calendar card changes its underlying date. Confirm that the view uses the review date rather than the release commitment.
