Release Notes Template for Notion (2026)
Notion databases provide a structured, searchable release notes system that doubles as both internal documentation and public-facing changelog. This template uses Notion databases and views for comprehensive release management.
Create a Release Notes database and use Notion public pages to share updates with users.
Template sections
4 sections covering the complete release notes workflow.
Database Structure
Create a Release Notes database with properties: Version (title), Release Date (date), Status (select: Draft/Published), Category (multi-select: Feature/Improvement/Fix), Summary (text), and Author (person). Each release is a database page with rich content inside.
Release Page Content
Each database entry opens as a full Notion page. Structure the page with toggle blocks for each category: New Features, Improvements, Bug Fixes. Use callout blocks for major features. Embed screenshots and Loom videos for visual changes.
Gallery View
Create a Gallery view of the database filtered by Status = Published and sorted by Release Date descending. Use the Summary property as the card preview. This creates a visual changelog that stakeholders can browse.
Public Changelog
Enable "Share to web" on the Release Notes database page. Create a filtered view showing only Published entries. Share the public URL in your app or docs. Notion public pages update in real time when you publish new entries.
